Samuel Benchimol, Ph.D.
Dr. Benchimol is Professor of Biology at York University, Toronto. His research is focused on the cellular mechanisms involved in cancer, particularly the mechanisms whereby p53 regulates the growth and death of cells. Dr. Benchimol has lectured and published widely on p53, and has served on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto and was postdoctoral Fellow at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratories in London.
Emil J. Freireich, M.D.
Dr. Freireich is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Adult Leukemia Research Program at the University of Texas Medical School, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He has received numerous honors, including the prestigious Albert Lasker Medical Research Award, the Charles F. Kettering Prize, and the Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Freireich is an eminent innovator in the treatment of leukemia and one of the Fathers of modern combination chemotherapy. He received his M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Randall Gatz, Ph.D.
Dr. Gatz is Founder and C.E.O. of OphthalmoPharma Ltd., Zurich. He previously served as Vice President of Research and Development for Fournier Laboratories, Dijon; Director of Business Development at Debiopharm SA, Lausanne; and Principal Investigator for the U.S. National Cancer Institute's Drug Development Program. Dr. Gatz earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Physiology from the University of Kentucky at Lexington, and was postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Gottingen, Germany.
David C. Harmon, M.D.
Dr. Harmon is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard University and a staff physician at Massachusetts General Hospital. He specializes in oncology and hematology, with a particular emphasis on sarcoma, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and immune cytopenias. Dr. Harmon has conducted collaborative research efforts with numerous pharmaceutical firms including GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Amgen and Eli Lilly. He received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School.
Robert E. Klem, Ph.D.
Dr. Klem previously served as Vice President of Research & Development and Chief Technical Officer at Genta, where he was seminal in resolving the manufacturing and intellectual property issues associated with Genasense®. He additionally founded JBL Scientific (acquired by Promega) where he developed the manufacturing procedures now applied worldwide by leading diagnostic companies for over 400 organic compounds. Dr. Klem received his Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Riverside.
William M. Wardell, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Wardell is President of Wardell Associates International. He previously served as Senior Vice President at Convance; President of Protein Engineering Corporation (now Dyax); Senior Vice President of Drug Development at Parke-Davis (acquired by Pfizer); and Vice President and Medical Director at Boehringer Ingelheim. He was additionally Cofounder of the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development. Dr. Wardell received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Oxford University. |
